Families have been thrown into disarray by a new set of lockdown rules that leave the children of all but a select group of workers ineligible for childcare.
From Thursday, under the [Victorian] state government’s strict new coronavirus rules, only vulnerable children and those of permitted workers can access childcare for the next six weeks.
But by Wednesday evening, many parents were still uncertain if they qualified for childcare. Those allowed access to care include nurses, emergency services, some retail staff, meat workers, media and construction workers.
