Thrive by Five congratulates NSW Treasurer on plans for investment to expand childcare
6 November 2021– Thrive by Five welcomes media reports today that NSW Treasurer Matt Kean plans to expand childcare so more women can participate in the workforce.
Thrive by Five CEO Jay Weatherill said “I congratulate the NSW Treasurer on recognising a lack of affordable early learning and childcare is holding back women’s workforce participation.
“A significant boost in early learning and childcare funding would be welcome, and an important step towards universal access to high quality early learning and economic reform.
“Parents, women and educators have been vocal on the need for this reform. Almost three-quarters of people in NSW support the introduction of a universal, high-quality early childhood education and care system [1].
“The majority of people also agree it would be very good for the economy as a whole.
“I look forward to seeing the detail of the NSW Treasurer’s new policy and how it can deliver for children, parents, women and the economy,” he said.
